Success is a journey

People often look at successful people and think they live a blessed life, lucked into success, or that success was given to them. It’s easy to look at a financially fit person and determine they came from money. It’s common to look at a physically fit person and determine it’s their genes that make them that way. Without knowing better, we can look at a successful marriage and say they don’t have the troubles that we have communicating.

Myth. Myth. Myth.

Success in anything…takes work. It takes effort. It means focusing in on what you want (financial freedom, a healthy body, a fulfilling relationship) and going after it like your life depends upon it. It’s the willingness to stumble, to fall, to crash and burn; but then pick yourself back up, dust off, and resume your efforts. It’s letting those horrible ugly obstacles blur in the background and not let them deter you. Success is not a doorway that people step through and TA-DA! Life is perfect. Success is a staircase that people have to be willing to climb to reach the top.  For the vast majority, success comes after a ridiculous amount of failed attempts. If you’re afraid of failing, afraid of making mistakes, afraid of screwing it all up…then success is not in your destiny. It takes courage to succeed as it means that you’re willing to experience (and embrace) failure as part of your path in life.

Determine what you want in your life then go after it with all you have. Imagine what a day in your life will look like once you’ve reached that goal to the point that you can hear it, smell it, touch it, and feel it. Take that energy that you have in your imagined life and bring it back with you to present day–then go forth in relentless pursuit of your goal. Success takes work–but it’s worth it.

I'm a 44-year old mom of 2 boys that are 10 & 7. I built my business while working full time and have my own business with Beachbody...a company that changed my life for the best. I love to point out the obvious. People amuse and amaze me. I have a cape and tights that I typically misplace but I'll leap from the tall building anyway, and figure it out on my way down. The joy in life is the journey.
