Don’t sacrifice what you want most for what you want at the moment
Getting healthy can be a challenge. I know, it sounds simple enough in concept, right? Eat less–exercise more. But the reasons WHY we eat are so HUGE. We tend to discount and dismiss them and, in my never to be humble opinion, that’s the worst thing we can do. It’s right up there with bringing a knife to a gun fight. A gallon of lighter fluid to a blazing inferno you’re trying to extinguish. A candle to a table at midnight when you’re trying to avoid moths. I think you’re getting my point…….
Getting your mind right will determine your success or failure and I believe this deeply and passionately. People often ridicule my harsh response when someone comes back with their whining excuses cuz something’s too hard. You know what I’m talking about here–the people that say it’s “too hard” to give up drive thru cuz their life is too busy. The people that say their favorite food is pizza and they’d be doing themselves a tremendous disservice if they didn’t eat pizza. Often. In great quantities. Daily. My response usually includes the phrase “Suck it up.”
Seriously. I know getting healthy is tough. I know eating healthy when you’ve a lifetime of eating like crap is completely uncomfortable. My response? How’s what you’re doing working for you? How’s your high cholesterol rocking your world? How’s being out of breath from a flight of stairs benefiting your life? How’s knowing you’re heading into the land of Type 2 diabetes helping you be excited about getting out of bed tomorrow?
I’m on a bit of a rant… forgive me for my directness…but appreciate what I’m saying.
You are worthy of a better life. A better tomorrow. You deserve the life you want. I don’t know if you’re 10 pounds overweight or 400 pounds overweight–but I do know that you deserve to look at yourself in the mirror and puff up with pride for the work you’re doing. You deserve to have someone in your life compliment you for the progress you’re making or keeping the results you worked so hard to obtain. You’re leaving a legacy with each day you’re blessed to be on this planet. Someone in your life is taking notes. Someone in your life is watching what you’re doing and deciding if that’s a path they’d like to try.
Leave a legacy you’d like to see repeated through the ages.
My journey as been TOUGH. BRUTAL. My story has brought me to my knees in tears time and again–today’s Turbo Fire video included. I had to push pause and talk myself out of a very dark place–a place that I used to live in every day of my life. I had to pull myself from that place into the new place that I’ve created for myself. Believe me when I tell you I understand a hard life. I understand struggle. I completely get the concept of going up against your darkest demons…trembling in your boots…and wondering if you’d come out the victor.
I get that.
How? Cuz I lived it.
Let me encourage you to take the time to get very clear about your life’s ambitions and dreams. Establish your priorities. Get CLEAR on what you want from life. Create a plan. If you meander through life then you’re going to end up with the life that it decides to give you. THAT IS NOT LIVING. THAT IS EXISTING. Decide what you want from life–and the DO NOT SACRIFICE WHAT YOU WANT THE MOST FOR WHAT YOU WANT AT THE MOMENT. This includes marriage, relationships, friendships, employment, education, fitness, and nutrition (and so much more–I’m just out of ideas on this one). If you’re in a committed relationship and a hot thang walks by–you’re not going to actually pursue it (well, you sure as hell shouldn’t, anyway) cuz your committed relationship means more to you than the hot thang sashaying across your path. DO NOT SACRIFICE WHAT YOU WANT MOST FOR WHAT YOU WANT AT THE MOMENT. You’re on a committed path to losing 10 pounds in 12 weeks and pizza walks in and sits on your lap–you need to send it away. DO NOT SACRIFICE WHAT YOU WANT MOST FOR WHAT YOU WANT AT THE MOMENT. Are you picking up what I’m throwing down?
Maybe getting help with your nutrition would turn your world around. I can help with that. Each workout program comes with some source of nutritional guidelines to help you (side note: you do have to actually shop for and prepare said meals then eat them for maximum benefit). Shakeology rocks. It’s done wonders for people that want to lose those last 10 pounds and the people that have a few hundred pounds to work on–but they really need help with the cravings, getting energy, and just plain old feeling good. Shakeology can help with that.
I’ve got online support groups starting regularly. If you think you’d benefit from that–let me know. We’ll start the process to see if you’re truly ready to commit to the proven online 90-day group that is helping people commit to a workout, Shakeology, and working out at home and getting KILLER results. I’d love to help you on this path. Hit me up.
You have to decide what you want from your life. Create a plan (that will change more times than your major in college) and go after it. Keep your eye on the prize. DO NOT SACRIFICE WHAT YOU WANT MOST FOR WHAT YOU WANT AT THE MOMENT.
