I'm a 44-year old mom of 2 boys that are 10 & 7. I built my business while working full time and have my own business with Beachbody...a company that changed my life for the best. I love to point out the obvious. People amuse and amaze me. I have a cape and tights that I typically misplace but I'll leap from the tall building anyway, and figure it out on my way down. The joy in life is the journey.

Body Beast: Shoulders Pushing Through Your Barriers

Day 5 is one of my favorite workouts-we are working the shoulder. I have an old shoulder injury so I am being careful but at the same time push it with re-injuring it.

You will see that I am working out with Gregg today!

If you have not noticed, I love drinking the Beachbody Kool-Aid. When I talk about a Beachbody Program, it means that I have done it.

When it comes to Body Beast, I am so excited about this program. It’s completely different and has me engaged 100%. It pushes me to get past barriers and lift more than I have ever had.

Body Beast: Beast Cardio Be the best you you can be

Today was Beast Cardio which we decided to do at our Weekly Fit Club. Are you ready for this! This workout is CARDIO with WEIGHTS-how crazy is that! I wasn’t prepared for that so we did not do it with the weights. I was able to get the moves down.

My metabolism is kicking in. I am able to actually eat. I have to be sensitive though because the calories are high in one setting between 500 to 700. It’s a lot to consume and get use to, so I am grazing until the meal is done.

I am realizing with trying to get hit the right amount of calories this one point. You have to be the best you can be! As long as you are working on developing woo you are and trying to make better choices-than you are doing an amazing things! Setbacks, mistakes and obstacles will come-but the important thing is to not give up!

Body Beast: Legs Focus on the blessings

Man I woke up grumpy and this is tough for me right now. I’m brand new into Body Beast (a weight training program that is designed to add mass~READ: very little cardio~ and I use cardio to work through my emotions) and I needed an attitude adjustment. BIG TIME. With no cardio to turn to and left to doing Body Beast: Legs; I was skeptical at best.

Turns out…it worked!!!! I was a sweaty mess and was sooooooo focused on my form and lifting heavy that it allowed the stress to go find someone else to bug (sorry if it was you) and I finished feeling energized and ready to take on my week. What a wonderful surprise! The Legs workout pushed me and pushed me hard. It got me to lift heavy. That said, PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FORM. It’s easy to lift too much with bad form and injure yourself (very bad). If needed, go lighter on your first round of Legs to make sure your form is perfect.

My nutrition? Yeah…struggling like I thought I would. That’s a whole lot of food to eat (approximately 3,000 calories) in a day and I’m a lifelong meal skipper. YOWZA. What a challenge!!! I’m at least feeling hungry–so I got that going for me. Normally, I don’t feel hungry. No…I’m not super human…I’ve taught my body how to starve itself :/ Firing up my metabolism will help me much.

My takeaway as I spent time weaving through my grumpiness…count my blessings. Were there things wrong in my life? Yep. Absolutely. But there were also things that were amazingly wonderful, too. If I allow the crap to pile up on top of what’s good–I’m losing out. So, I force myself to pull the blessings up and out–put them at the top of my list of things to be thankful for–and smile.

Oh–and there is no estrogen in this program. Anywhere. Period. It’s a bunch of men BEASTING UP. It’s totally odd–and I love it. I don’t stare at the TV in awe of the perfect Barbie Doll figures and compare myself in an unhealthy way. I merely try to mirror their form and do my best to UNLEASH IT!

That’s about it. Hit me up. Subscribe to me. Follow me. Shout out that you’re watching. Toss a question at me…let me know you’re there 🙂

Why in the heck am I doing Body Beast?!?

Why in the heck is a 41-year-old mom of two boys doing Body Beast? Great question…it took me a while to get to an answer. You see, my adult life I’ve been fascinated with weight lifting, body building, and watching people change their shape. Since I found Beachbody in 2005, I’ve learned to push myself and see what I’m made of–time and again. After doing P90X, then ChaLEAN Extreme, then Turbo Fire (as well as “dabbling in countless other programs along the way) one thing I know for sure: I can do more than I ever thought I could.

I’m good at self-doubt. An expert self-loather. That said, really getting serious about ME (both my mental and physical health) opened a LOT of doors in my mind. Whereas before the space in my brain was pretty dark–I’ve learned that

I’m in control of that and can let some light in. Gradually over time, I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone time and time and time and time again and live in a much sunnier space. These slight shifts–subtle changes over time–have given me a new spirit. A confidence I’ve never had before. Will I blow you away with my results? I dunno. But I’m gonna blow myself away with my efforts.

My biggest pending challenge will NOT be tossing around the weights. It’s going to be eating enough clean fuel to promote the muscle growth. On that note (ladies), muscle burns more calories while you’re sitting at your PC reading this blog. We (especially women 30 and older) need muscle. Our metabolism doesn’t slow down cuz we are old–it slows down cuz we lose that glorious muscle we had in our youth. Want to fire that metabolism up again? Pick up a weight. A heavy one. Repeatedly. Anyhoo–I’m a lifelong meal skipper. It’s been one of my greatest challenges…eating enough calories. So, I’m expecting this to challenge me. I’ve got to hit around 3,000 calories a day according to the book–double what I typically eat. It’s a good thing I LOVE the menus in that book! They’re amazing!

Oh please…do not believe that myth that skipping meals helps you lose weight. lt doens’t. Skipping meals freaks your body out. It thinks you’re in Alaska in the peak of snow season stuck on the side of a road with no hope of eating again. Your body instinctively goes into survival mode and starts eating muscle–storing the fat so you can handle the sub zero temps while you run from the Yeti. That gorgeous lean smooth muscle–and your body canibilzes on it; saving the ugly dimply squishy fat for later. Yeah, I’ll wait for you if you want to go grab a snack and come back to me.

Oh, and another thing…I don’t wanna get all manly, either.

Follow along. Should be one heckuva ride!

Ultimate Reset Day 14 Oral Care & New Habits

I have offically hit a mile marker-today is Day 14! No more detox drinks- I am looking forward to hopefully(fingers crossed) my digestive system will start to move!

There is nothing to complain about. My energy level is still great. I’m not hungry which is a bonus when doing a detox.

We are entering a new stage concerning the type of food. The menu getting away from beans as a protein to mainly fruits and veggies.

A surpising development-more time spent on my teeth. Trying to keep all the green pieces from brocolli and other green vegetables out of my teeth.

Improvements are still coming. Mainly how well I am feeling and sleeping. I think a lot of it has to do with me not having caffeine
